The University of Toronto community offers its condolences to the Barrington Leigh family on the tragic death of student Robert Barrington Leigh.

“The loss of any member of our community is a tragedy and our hearts go out to the Barrington Leigh family and to Robert’s friends,” said Professor Vivek Goel, vice-president and provost.

The young University of Toronto math and physics student disappeared the night of Aug. 13 after leaving his family home in Edmonton, telling family members he was heading by bicycle to the Edmonton Folk Festival. His family launched a massive search during the following week.

Barrington Leigh’s body was found Aug. 22 in Edmonton’s North Saskatchewan River.
